The workhorse

Black is the tee you reach for when you haven't thought about the outfit. It goes under everything in AW26 — the Chuck Jacket in either colourway, any of the four Sentier checks, or on its own with the Belleville Straight Leg Jeans.

Which means it also takes the most wear, and that's where the fabric earns its place. Cheap black tees go grey and lose their shape within a season. French terry at this weight doesn't.

Construction

Ribbed crew collar to hold its shape, straight hemmed cuffs rather than ribbed, and no distressing anywhere. The logo is embroidered at the centre chest, not printed — it won't crack, peel or fade out after a winter of washing.

Will the black fade?
All black cotton fades eventually. Washing cold and inside out, and skipping the tumble dryer, holds the depth several times longer than a hot cycle will.

What's French terry?
A cotton knit with looped fibres on the inside face. More breathable and more durable than brushed fleece, and it holds its shape considerably better over time.

Is the logo printed or embroidered?
Embroidered. Prints crack and lift with washing; embroidery doesn't.

Is it heavy enough to wear on its own?
Yes. It's built at tee weight rather than lightweight jersey, so it hangs with some structure instead of clinging.
